At Timber Lake West we take the job of coaching and caring for children seriously. We’re looking for top quality summer camp counselors and camp staff who will take this job as seriously as we do.
We’re committed to being the best and know that to attract the best summer camp staff, we have to pay the highest salaries in the camping profession.
A summer with us offers the opportunity to make life-long friends from across the United States and around the world. Last summer Timber Lake West warmly welcomed camp counselors from California to Maine, and international residents from around the globe. Each year, we have staff traveling from Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Eastern Europe to join us.
We are a co-ed camp with no religious affiliation and our campers primarily hail from the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey & Connecticut). The days in camp are long – they run from wake-up at 7:45am through Evening Activity which ends at 9:15pm. Our expectation is that our staff will put the needs of our campers ahead of their own. We run six activity periods during the day and have a scheduled evening activity every night. Counselors are active participants along with our campers in these activities. A staff member’s role is to make the campers feel a part of the group and help them make friends and resolve conflicts. We look for counselors who are proactive: can anticipate problems before they happen, recognize when your campers are sick or sad or not feeling like they fit in. We want our counselors to always be present & attentive, and if you are, we promise you that in return you’ll have the summer of a lifetime!
If you’re interested in joining the Timber Lake West family of camp counselors and staff, please fill out our staff application. You can also email us at info@timberlakewest.com for more information. International staff may apply directly to us and are required to obtain a J-1 visa from a sponsoring agency, which we will put you in touch with, to work for us, once hired.
