Camp Can’t Come Soon Enough!
Two days!!! Can you believe it? How excited are you for camp to begin?!?!?!?! Because we are gearing up here for the best summer ever! So much has been going on in preparation for your arrival!
The energy is high here at Timber Lake West as we get ready for another AMAZING summer! Returning staff and new staff all joined together for staff orientation week, jam-packed with days of learning about what it takes to be a Timber Lake West counselor. Over these last few days, our staff has been arriving from all over the world settling into their home away from home. They’ve been coming in via planes, trains & automobiles and working hard to make sure that once you get here, you’ll never want to leave!
This past week was packed with lectures, safety training, swim tests and division meetings. We are also very fortunate to have had with us world-renowned child psychologist Bob Ditter, who spent an entire day with our staff teaching them the best ways to gently guide children through conflict resolution among their peers!
On top of all of our preparations, our staff has also had the opportunity to have some fun too testing out many of our summertime activities that we will be doing with our campers! We’ve competed in Color War, played basketball, Apache Relays and had our very own Alma Mater Sing Night! We know that the most important thing we can do for our campers is to make sure that they have fun this summer. How many people get to say that their job is to “professionally have fun?” We are fun: sun up to sun down, giving high fives, piggy back rides, eating birthday cakes, making friendship bracelets, telling silly stories, and being in skits and plays!
Armed with a fantastic week of staff orientation, coupled with our thirst for fun, there is never a dull moment here at Timber Lake West and we can’t wait for Sunday to arrive so that we all can begin having fun together! See all of our 1st Session campers on Sunday!!!!
